    Smíði á 2,8-dihydroxyadenine (7) má framkvæma í fimm skrefum, þar sem thiourea (1) og malononitrile eru notuð sem upphafsefni. Hér verður þessari efnasmíði lýst, ásamt þróun nýrrar aðferðar við framkvæmd á síðasta skrefi ferlisins. LC-MS, MS og UV gögn sýna fram á að rétta efnið 7 hafi myndast, en hreinsun þess gekk erfiðlega og ekki tókst að fá fram hreint sýni af efninu.

  • 2,8-dihydroxyadenine (7) can be synthesized in five steps where the commercially available thiourea (1) and malononitrile (2) are used as starting materials. Here we describe this synthesis as well as the development of a new method for the final step of the process. LC-MS, MS and UV data support the formation of the desired product 7, but a pure product was not obtained due to struggle with purification.
