Nowadays, the demand for teaching and learning Spanish as a foreign language within the context of higher education in India is growing significantly. The teaching experience at the University Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi derives into an essential consideration: the advisability to create materials which suit both the Indian environment and the needs and specific interests of the students. As a consequence, the reason of the present work is to present a didactic proposal based on a preliminary analysis of the needs and interests of a group of students at the JNU. Firstly, the theoretical basis on which the proposal has been developed is described and subsequently the results of questionnaires, surveys and observations carried out at the University are analyzed. Secondly, activities carried out with the target group in India are presented. Finally, the results obtained from questionnaires answered by the students once completed the practices are discussed.
