Increasingly we are used to the employment of literature in ELE classes, this use is reflected in the textbooks to learn Spanish. We have analyzed some of them and we conclude the best way how to use literature in this kind of textbooks is in a holistic view. Using it to learn the Spanish language and inciting to reading and enjoy at the same time. Currently, we see a great interest in the study of new areas, in the field of Spanish for foreigners, many of them related to humanistic ideas as motivation. The theory of multiple intelligences of Howard Gardner is based on the development of the intelligences or skills that belong to each person. This is for us a good example that take into account human factors. By studying the intelligences, also in Spanish textbooks, we find the evolution of language teaching methods is closely linked to the development of different intelligences in every age. We examine the activities of the textbooks to learn Spanish by the ideas of this theory. We try to connect it with a significant application of literary texts, explained above. Besides, we follow the Communicative Language Teaching to get the aim of every Spanish class for foreigners, the language learning.
