    Abstract
This project is a final essay for B.A. degree in Sports, Social and Leisure Studies of the University of Iceland, field of Education. The purpose of this project is to shed a light on whether there is a relationship between clumsiness in children and their social status within the group. I chose to use the research paper form which acquires reviewing studies and articles on the subject, interpret and evalute them. In the academic section I discuss the concepts that relates to motor and social skills.

The results strongly suggest a relationship between the children's motor skills and their social status and popularity within the group. When mobility skills of children is having affects on their daily activities they are referred to as clumsy. Clumsy children attend to watch their peers from distance rather then engage in their games, they often fear that they will make mistakes and be laughed at. Many children attend to loose their social relationship with their peers and get isolated. Children who are socially isolated do often have impaired self-esteem that enables them to approach their peers on their own terms. Clumsy children who will not get both the stimulation and encouragement to exercise, will many suffer from social and/or physical problems later in life.
