Meistaraverkefnið fjallar um hönnun og framkvæmd námskeiða í leirmótun fyrir aldraða. Markmið verkefnisins er að gera athugun á því hvort aldraðir valdeflist og almenn velsæld þeirra aukist við þátttöku í sjálfssprottinni og námsmiðaðri leirvinnu. Fræðilegur bakgrunnur námsskeiðanna felst m.a.

    Old age, the creative season.
This masters thesis is about the making of and execution of clay workshops for the aged. The purpose of the study is to find out, if participation in a spontaneous and educationally oriented clay workshop, has an empowering impact on the aged and if it adds to they´re general wellbeing? The theoretical part of the thesis consist primarily of Gene D Cohen´s conclusions from his researches, on creativity and aging, and of theories concerning empowerment. Also on androgogy, the view of art therapy relating to claywork, and work with memories. Interviews were taken with the participants after the workshops and results indicated that the participants gained empowerment and increased general wellbeing from participating in the workshops. The study can be used to promote the implementation of spontaneous and educationally oriented clay (and art) workshops in the geriatric field.
