Titill:

Ecommerce has been around since the 1990s and have consumers been able to shop online and have them delivered to their homes. In the last few years Icelandic people have been using the Internet more often and around 97% of the nation used the Internet within three months in 2013 according to Statistics Iceland. Ecommerce in Iceland is quite low considering ecommerce in the Nordic countries. In Iceland less than 56% of Icelandic people shopped online in the year of 2013 but in the Nordic countries the ratio was between 65% to 77%.
Consumer behavior is different for every individual and many factors can effect the decision of the consumer. The factors can be psychological, social, economic and cultural. Buying behavior is not the same if the product is expensive and has a sentimental value to the consumer or if the product is relatively cheap or the buyer is in a hurry. Then the buyer will use a buying behavior called heuristic.
The decision making when buying a product online and buying a product when going to a store is similar. The Internet helps the consumer to research the product better and can therefore compare similar products in different companies without much effort.
The author got the students and ex-students of Bifröst University to answer a survey related to ecommerce.
The conclusion of the survey and the research of the author reveal that more often than not the price is the major factor when shopping online. The simplicity of the ecommerce and the fact that the consumer is able to shop whenever he or she wants is also a big factor why Icelandic people choose to use ecommerce.
