Nowadays elves are common beings seen in books and movies, especially since The Lord Of The Rings trilogy movies came out in 2001 based J.R.R Tolkien´s books, reaching a wider public than ever before. However, how we see elves has shifted over time. They are present in medieval Icelandic texts and the way they are depicted was going to profoundly influence J.R.R Tolkien for his works. In turn, new authors from France have taken up his legacy, all the better to expand and reflect upon it, making elves acquire a perspective much deeper than the medieval texts.
