Study of potential plant process for (Et4N)[Mo2O2S4(S2CP(O)Ph2)]

Abstract

Markmið verkefnisins var efnasmíði á komplexinum (Et4N)[Mo2O2S4(S2CP(O)Ph2)]. Efnasmíðarnar heppnuðust samkvæmt litrófsgreiningu, en komplexinn var ekki hreinsaður að fullu. Efnaferlar sem eru skalaðir upp til framleiðslu eru oft endurhannaðir til að lágmarka kostnað og hámarka hreinleika myndefnisins sem sóst er eftir. Við endurhönnun er framleiðsluferlið oft ólíkt ferlinu sem notað er á tilraunastofunni þar sem ný óhreinindi geta birst við greiningu eða áður þekkt óhreinindi hverfa vegna þess að efnahvarfið hegðar sér öðruvísi í uppskölun. Í þessu verkefni er sett fram tillaga að efnaferli fyrir verksmiðju framleiðslu á myndefninu. Þessi efnaferill var settur fram með kassa flæðiritum. Breytingar voru gerðar á upprunalega ferlinum vegna þess að sumt sem gert er á tilraunastofunni hentar ekki að gera þegar ferillinn er skalaður upp.

The (Et4N)[Mo2O2S4(S2CP(O)Ph2)] compound synthesis was the target goal of this thesis. Although spectroscopic data indicated the synthesis was succesful the final product still contained impurities.When a compound is transferred from the laboratory scale to a production scale the process for the synthesis of this compound often needs to be redesigned or changed to accommodate unforeseen changes in behavior of the chemical reaction product. In multistep processes it is not necessary to modify or change all procedures but focus is placed on the steps that may become more cost effective. This thesis presents the laboratory synthesis route of the target compound and proposes a possible plant process which was designed and presented using block flow diagrams. The processes which were made for each of the reactions where changed to some extent. Certain methods do not work as well on larger scale and an alternate routes are suggested for these steps.
