„Hvaða augum lít ég sjálfa mig?“: áhrif langvarandi þátttöku ungra kvenna í kórstarfi á mótun listrænnar sjálfsmyndar, merkingarbær reynsla þeirra og væntingar til frama á sviði söngsins

Abstract

Í þessari rannsókn er skoðuð langvarandi þátttaka ungra kvenna í kórstarfi Aurora og áhrif þess á mótun sjálfsmyndar, mótun listræns sjálfs, mótun sjálfsmyndar listamanns og væntingar til frama á sviði söngs og tónlistariðkunar. Verndandi þættir ástundunar eru einnig skoðaðir. Kórinn Aurora er kirkjudeild Stúlknakórs Reykjavíkur og á aðsetur sitt í sönghúsi Domus Vox undir listrænni stjórn Margrétar Jóhönnu Pálmadóttur. Gögn rannsóknar byggja á viðtölum við stjórnendur sönghússins, tvo kórstjóra, átta meðlimi kórsins og niðurstöðum matskvarða sem 20 kórmeðlimir svöruðu. Niðurstöður sýna að mikill meirihluti kórmeðlima telur að kórstarfið hafi mótað sjálfsmynd þeirra og mótað með þeim listræna sjálfsmynd sem endurspeglast í upplifun á að söngur er stór hluti sjálfsins. Færri hafa mótað sjálfsmynd listamanns, um helmingur kórmeðlima hafa framavæntingar á sviði söngs og tónlistar og tengist það menntunarstigi í söng. Verndandi þættir ástundunar felast meðal annars í umgjörð kórstarfsins af hálfu stjórnenda, jákvæðum gildum þess, áhuga stúlknanna, söngnámi og framgangi þeirra. Niðurstöður matskvarða sýna að aldurshópur 18-19 ára stúlkna sker sig úr en þær meta síður mikilvægi félagslegs samþykkis, þætti sem styðja við áhugahvöt, áhrif kórstarfs á persónustyrk og upplifa minni ánægju af kórstarfinu en þær sem eldri eru. Samræmi er í svörum aldursflokka við mat á eigin hæfni og ábyrgð gagnvart kórstarfinu. Stúlkur 20 ára og eldri telja að kórstarf hafi stuðlað að auknum persónustyrk og taka afgerandi afstöðu til þess að kórstarfið sé gefandi, veiti þeim gleði og hafi jákvæð áhrif á líðan þeirra.

The subject of this study is young women´s long-term participation in the choir Aurora and the influence of this participation on the development of self-image, the artistic self, artist identification and future expectations of success as singers and musicians. The focus is furthermore on the factors that support prolonged participation and commitment. The choir Aurora is an advanced part of the Reykjavík Girls´ Choir that focuses on church music and practices at Domus Vox under the artistic guidance of Margrét Jóhanna Pálmadóttir. Data is derived from interviews with the managers, two choir directors, eight choir participants and responses from twenty participants on a Likert scale inventory. Results show that the majority of the girls believe that their particpation has influenced the development of their self-image and created an artistic self that is reflected in their feelings that the art of singing is an important part of the self. Not as many have developed the identification of the artist, e.g. believing that they are one. About 50% of the group expect that their future work will involve singing or music, and the girls who have studied voice for a long period of time are in this group. The main factors influencing commitment and prolonged participation were the directors´ supportive and skilful organization, positive values promoted, the girls´ interest, vocal training, and the girls´ progress or success. The results of the inventory show that the younger group, 18-19 yr old girls, did not rate as strongly the importance of social acceptance, some factors related to motivation, the influence of their choral participation on their personal development, and their pleasure of participating, as did the older group. There is more agreement among the participants regarding their own good vocal talents and strong responsibility towards the choir. Girls over 20 yrs old believe that participating in the choir has strengthened their faith in themselves and they confirm that their participation gives them joy and has a positive effect on their well-being.
