This thesis will go to great lengths detailing the aging problem Japan is presently facing, threatening its very existence. Some of its focal points are how it began and when the problem first got recognized and how to consider the future for possible ways to mend the problem, going in depth on both temporary and permanent solutions that have been brought to the table. Many modern nations have a stagnating population growth but this thesis will go into what makes Japan unique amongst the modern nations that are and will face these issues in the near future. This thesis will also try and shine a light on Japan’s systematic gender equality issues that may be a root cause that is affecting the nation’s population growth.
