    Málmhvataður brennisteinsflutningur fyrir beina (sulfuration) lífrænna efnasambanda hefur sýnt mikla möguleika á undanförnum árum. Hins vegar hefur þetta svið verið frekar órannsakað. Markmið verkefnisins efnasmíði (Et4N)[R2P(O)CS2Mo2O2S4] og framkvæma NMR mælingar til að athuga hvort komplexinn hafi hvatavirkni á cyclóhexen súlfíð to að mynda cyclóhexen. Bygging komplexins var skoðaður með litrófsgreiningum. Þó svo að efnasmíðinn hafi tekist þá tókst ekki að kristalla efnið. Hvatavirknismælinging sýndi fram á að lægri mólprósenta hvata hafi betri niðurstöður til að umbreyta cyclóhexen súlfíði í cyclóhexen eða um 30%. Fyrst að hvatinn var óhreinn og sýndi merki um blöndu af mónómer og dimer þá þarf að endurtaka þessa tilraun þegar kristall hvatans hefur verið myndaður.

  • Metal-catalyzed sulfur transfer for direct sulfuration of organic compounds has shown great potential in recent years. However, this field is still fairly unexplored. The goal of this project was to synthesize (Et4N)[R2P(O)CS2Mo2O2S4] and perform NMR studies to see if it has catalytic ability with cyclohexene sulfide to yield cyclohexene. The complex was characterized by spectroscopic methods. Although the synthesis of the complex was successful, its crystal was not successful. The catalytic studies showed that for lower mole percentage of the catalyst better result was obtained for the conversion of cyclohexene sulfide to cyclohexene or about 30% conversion. Since the catalyst was impure and showed signs of a mixture of monomer and dimer a duplication of this experiment needs to be performed once its crystal is obtained.
