Fiskur tekur beitur, en öngull tekur fisk : upptaktur að námsefni um íslenskan sjávarútveg

Abstract

Tilgangur þessarar ritgerðar er að gera námefni um íslenskan sjávarútveg aðgengilegt til kennslu í grunnskólum. Námsefni í formi rafbókar ásamt stoðefni sem er í fórum Háskólans á Akureyri um efnið er skoðað með það í huga hvort það sé hentugt til að ná þessum tilgangi. Ritgerðin nálgast viðfangsefnið með þeim hætti að reyna að skjóta styrkum stoðum undir kennslu um efnið og að koma með tillögur um hvernig það væri hægt. Aðferðin er fólgin í því að gefa stutt yfirlit um mikilvægi sjávarútvegs fyrir Íslendinga og að setja menntun um hann í kennslufræðilegt samhengi m.t.t. grunnskóla á Íslandi. Regluverkið um grunnskólastarf og námsefni er skoðað og lagt mat á það hve vel það samrýmist kennslu um íslenskan sjávarútveg. Helstu niðurstöður eru þær að ofangreint námsefni er nothæft og ætti að nota sem grunn að menntun um íslenskan sjávarútveg í grunnskólum. Það þarf hins vegar að styðjast við tiltekið stoðefni og vera aðgengilegt á Netinu auk þess að vera rafrænt að öllu leyti. The purpose of this thesis is make a curriculum for Icelandic fisheries accessible for teaching in compulsory schools. Study material in the form of an electronic book, together with an ancillary material that is in the possession of the University of Akureyri, is examined with aview to whether it is suitable for achieving this purpose. The essay approaches the subject in a way that tries to provide a strong foundation for teaching on the subject and to make suggestionson how it would be possible. The method is to give a brief overview of the importance of the fishing industry for Icelanders and to put education about it in a pedagogical context of primary schools in Iceland. The regulatory framework for compulsory schooling and study material is examined and evaluated as to how well it complies with teaching on the Icelandic fisheries sector. The main conclusions are that the above-mentioned study material is useable and should be taken as a foundation for this education about Icelandic fisheries in primary schools. However, it needs to be based on specific support material and be accessible on the Internet as well as being fully electronic.Keywords: Icelandic fisheries, education, constructivism, connection policy, digital literacy.
