Að sá fræjum vonar í myrkar aðstæður: Hlutverk presta í ofbeldisaðstæðum

Abstract

Lokaverkefni mitt til mag. theol. prófs við Háskóla Íslands er starfstengt miðlunarverkefni sem fjallar um hlutverk presta í ofbeldisaðstæðum einstaklinga sem til þeirra leita. Verkefnið er tvíþætt, annars vegar greinargerð sem myndar fræðilegar undirstöður fyrir fræðsluefnið og hins vegar bæklingur sem tekur á þeirri guðfræðilegu nálgun og þeim sálgæsluþáttum sem presturinn vinnur út frá, en þar er sjónarhornið heimilisofbeldi og ofbeldi í nánum samböndum. Rannsóknin er þarfagreining fyrir hlutverk presta í þessum aðstæðum og bæklingur sem ætlað er að mæta þeim þörfum sem fram komu frá rýnihópum og í viðtölum. Í greinargerðinni eru skilgreiningar á ofbeldi og ofbeldissamböndum. Fjallað er um afleiðingar ofbeldis, hlutverk fyrirgefningar í ferlinu og hvað átt er við með kristnum mannskilningi. Útgangspunkturinn er kristinn mannskilningur, en samkvæmt honum er maðurinn kallaður til að elska náunga sinn og til ábyrgðar og samfélags við aðra. Grundvallarhugmyndin er sú að manneskjan sé góð sköpun Guðs sem enginn og ekkert hafi rétt á að særa, meiða eða brjóta niður. Fjallað er um lútherskan kirkjuskilning og hlutverk prestsins sem sálgætis. Áhersla er lögð á fagleg mörk presta og mikilvægi þess að hlúð sé sérstaklega að þeim og því mikilvæga starfi sem þeir sinna.Lykilorð: ofbeldi, kristinn mannskilningur, sálgæsla, prestar, hlutverk, kirkja, sálgæsluviðtöl, fræðsla.

My Graduate thesis for the Mag. Theol. degree from the University of Iceland is a work-related project which concerns the role of pastors with respect to the victims of abuse who ask for their assistance. The project is split into two parts. Firstly, an analysis of the subject matter which forms the theoretical foundations for the educational material contained in the booklet prepared. And secondly, the preparation of an educational booklet which deals with the religious approach and psychological underpinnings upon which the pastor relies in dealing with victims of domestic abuse or in close relationships. The research is basically a requirement analysis for the role of pastors in these situations and a preparation of a booklet which is designed to meet the needs expressed in research groups and in interviews held. The analysis referred to above includes a study of the definitions of abuse and abusive relationships. Additionally, the consequences of domestic abuse are examined in detail as well as the role of forgiveness in the process, which is also expounded from the Christian perspective of the comprehension of humans. The basic assumption is the Christian approach to the human condition, which calls upon the human being to love his or her neighbour regardless, and to be accountable and to coexist in harmony with others. The basic idea or perspective is that the human being is a good creation of God and nobody has a right to do harm, hurt or demean such beings. Furthermore, the Lutheran view of the role of the church is explained, as well as the role of the pastor with an emphasis on the approach of pastoral care. The importance of professional boundaries is emphasized and must be adhered to since the pastors are providing a much-needed service and which is also quite exacting on the performer. Thus, it is of great importance that these factors be squarely and delicately dealt with.
