Tucked in between : about background and context

Abstract

Tucked in between is a theoretical analysis of my practice, putting focus on the conceptual development over time and the relation between some of the latest works and the earlier ones. To do so I expose the main topics of my practice and explore the connection they have between themselves. These being Language and communication, Narration, Methods of meaning making and understanding, and Emotional expression.I will present a theoretical frame on these topics; I will talk about translation and migration in relation to identity and social networks, as well as poetry. My work is inter-disciplinary, with a preference for installation and video, with strong site-specific elements to curate or direct the subjective experience of the guests. I try to set a context in which to produce a mindset shift in the viewer to stimulate critical thinking and imagination, so presenting non-concrete imagery develops into concrete narratives.
