Kennsluefni í forritun og stærðfræði á unglingastigi : tilraunir um framsetningu og miðlun á vef

Abstract

Hér er lagður fram kennsluvefur sem ætlað er að hjálpa nemendum að dýpka skilning sinn á stærðfræði, ásamt greinargerð sem hér fer á eftir og fjallar um hugmyndir og vinnu sem búa að baki kennsluefninu. Vefurinn ásamt greinargerðinni sem hér fer á eftir er 30 eininga lokaverkefni til M.Ed.-prófs á Menntavísindasviði Háskóla Íslands.Í greinargerðinni er því lýst hvernig blandað nám getur stutt við einstaklingsmiðun í námi og hvað þarf að hafa í huga þegar ætlunin er að nýta tölvur, forrit og upplýsingatækni til að dýpka skilning nemenda í stærðfræðinámi. Fjallað er um hvernig blandað nám getur gefið nemendum tækifæri til að hafa áhrif á eigin námshraða og efnisval en einnig skoðað hvernig nýta má upplýsingatækni við efnismiðlun og kennslu í stærðfræði og bent á leiðir til að nýta tölvur og forrit sem viðbót í náminu.Á kennsluvefnum er að finna dæmi um ólíkar leiðir til að fást við stærðfræði með aðstoð tækni og tölvuforrita og eru sett fram nokkur verkefni í hverjum flokki miðlunarkosta sem þar er að finna. Þeir nefnast Töflureiknir, Reiknigripplur, Forritun, GeoGebra, Rafbækur, Kennslumyndbönd, Þöglar myndir og Samvinna. Markmið með vefnum er að búa til vettvang fyrir kennara til að sjá og greina möguleika við að nýta tölvur og tækni í stærðfræðinámi og þannig hvetja þá til að vinna áfram með tæknina í sinni stærðfræðikennslu. Efnistök og framsetning eru með því móti að nemendur eiga að geta unnið að miklu leyti sjálfstætt í efni á vefnum og stýrt því sjálfir hvar og hvenær þeir vinna í efninu eða hversu hröð yfirferð þeirra er. Kennsluvefurinn er opinn öllum og vonast höfundur til að hann geti nýst kennurum og nemendum sem vilja nýta upplýsingatækni markvisst í stærðfræðinámi í efri bekkjum grunnskóla. This project constitutes an educational website, intended to help students to strenghten their skills and understanding in mathematics, and the following paper, about key concepts and pedagogical ideas behind the teaching materials presented at that site. The website and the paper are presented here as a project of 30 ECTS credit units for a M.Ed. degree at the University of Iceland´s School of Education. The paper focuses on how new technologies and blended learning can help students with their study efforts in an individualized fashion and what to have in mind when teachers plan to make use of digital devices, programs and solutions to enhance student understanding and learning in mathematics. Reflections about how blended learning gives students an opportunity to influence their own pace and objectives of study are also included, as well as ideas on how digital ways of mediating teaching materials might be used to help students explore and study mathematics.The website offers different ways to explore mathematics with the help of digital technologies and a number of assignments presented in eight categories under the following headings: Spreadsheets, Graspable math, Programming, GeoGebra, eBooks, Educational Videos, Silent Videos and Collaboration. The goal has been to make the website a platform for teachers to discover the potential embedded in the use of digital technologies to teach and study mathematics and to encourage teachers to maintain technological advances in their individual ways of teaching. Topics on the website are presented in a way that makes it easy for teachers to orient themselves and students to work independently, allowing them to control where, when and at what pace they want to explore or make use of the materials presented. The website is open for all to use and will hopefully prove useful for teachers and students alike, those who want to make use of digital technologies when it comes to teaching and learning mathematics in 8th to 10th grade of Icelandic compulsory schooling.
