Abstract

There is a stench in the air. Fumes from smelters and whale intestines have contaminated the air. Despite that, Hvalfjörður maintains an active local community, in the depths of nature.Project Orb is located on the base of former barracks from British Navy depot at Hvítanes in Hvalfjörður. The Orb acts as a servant to the local community, where the village structure focuses on implementing communal safety and solidarity, by radically using visual connections between residents, to break isolated ties between people and create meaningful connections.A small thriving residential area for habitants, who see and are seen.
