This thesis is a discourse on the history and contemporary context of food waste, its problems, and potentials. I want to inspect definitions of food and waste, the facts surrounding food production and its leftovers, resources in the Icelandic context and designers’ methods engaging with the subject. The aim is to explore a world in which waste is not seen as waste, but as a resource itself. And finally, to develop and analyze my own working principles.
