Interconnection Between Art, Body and Feminism

Abstract

My art practice explores the fourth wave feminism theory, particularly at the current time, year 2022. Through revealing my personal history and experiences, I reflect on what is happening in certain societies from a female, Gen-Z, USA immigrant perspective. The nude imagery has been prevalent throughout all of art history, yet the female gaze as well as the connection between female nudity and sexual self expression is still not the cultural norm. The female body, again, becomes politicized and a sensitive topic in conversations which in turn manifest in our social values. Can nude images be viewed from a different gaze? Does the male gaze influence us as a society? And why is the female body such a fascinating subject to myself included?
