Digital platform for psychological treatments & management for psychologists

Abstract

Psychologists commonly use physical resources like notepads and printed materials to store patient information. This method requires printing and searching through notes, taking away valuable time with patients and posing a risk to patient data security. A more efficient and secure method not only benefits patient care quality but also allows psychologists to focus more time on providing quality care to their patients. This project was done in collaboration with the Icelandic startup Soultech. The aim of this project was to provide psychologists with a platform that simplifies and coordinates their work by offering a clear and organized solution for all aspects related to treatments, including questionnaires, reading materials, and assignments. With the platform, psychologists can store their patients' data in a secure location, making it easier to keep track of their records and progress while reducing the risk of losing important information. Psychologists can also send selected materials to their clients or assign them to a specific treatment through the platform. Additionally, a mobile application for clients is being developed to connect to the platform. This report follows the development of the platform. It began with a design sprint to define the requirements of the system, design a low-fidelity prototype, and evaluate it before further development. After the design sprint, a more traditional agile approach was taken to implement the system based on the established requirements. Then a formal evaluation was done through user tests with psychologists, the intended user group, to ensure that the system meets their requirements and to find areas that needed to be improved in future development.
