  • This report depicts the set up and outcome of the Lumera Beach Festival, which was held in January 2023 on the island of Phu-Quoc which took place during the Tết Nguyên Đán festival. The island of Phu-Quoc is located off the western coast of Vietnam.
The main goal of this project was to introduce and cultivate electronic dance music in this part of the world, be it open air events or within clubs. South East Asia is slowly getting on board with what western society has been doing for decades now in terms of electronic music events. This project was set up by three individuals who are the owners of the Lumera Beach Festival, with two of the three being Icelandic techno artists, and the third owner being an experienced event host and restauration/bar professional. Each expense and creative decision was logged through digital communication where contracts and fees where discussed and agreed upon. The outcome of this three day festival was an overall success despite a few major roadblocks and unexpected hurdles manifesting themselves at the start of the event.
