  • Business plan for opening a surf camp in Iceland
  • Master's
  • The business idea on which this project is based is unknown in Iceland. It is therefore accompanied by great risk. Risk is not what investors and financial institutions want to see when entrepreneurs come to them
    seeking funding.
To eliminate the risk for the business idea, of opening a surf camp in Iceland, it was decided to make a business plan. The goal of the business plan was to find out if the business idea could be profitable. Emphasis was also placed on explaining everything related to the idea well to maximize the reader’s understanding of the idea and its implementation. Another goal was to use decision analysis to choose the most suitable area for setting up a surf camp in Iceland.
The conclusion of the business plan and the decision analysis for the location was that a surf camp, located on Snæfellsnes Peninsula, appears to be a profitable project that can succeed.
However, the conclusion is presented with the assumption that it might be wise to get more detailed information about the demand for similar solutions found in Norway and update the curve of expected sales if
needed. If the curve of expected sales changes, changes will need to be made to the sections of the financial part. Also, due to volcanic activity in Iceland, it is proposed to add one criterion, related to the geology of areas in Iceland, to the decision-analysis for the location.
