The web API accepts a set of user inputs to be sent along a request and to be compared with it to determine whether the request originated from a legitimate source.
The aim of the API, as well as the Sanctum Guard itself, is to block any harm onto remote servers originating from phishing attacks. Illegitimate requests, sent through compromised workstations but originating from a remote attacker, will not be attested as the actual corresponding user inputs are missing.
This API can be extended to a variety of properties outside the scope of cybersecurity. For example, with an addition of a simple browser extension, the API can be a valuable tool for plagiarism detection of essays. The API can examine the amount of editing an essay has been through as well as a proportion of pasted, unattested text in the essay.
