This Master's Thesis focuses on the creation of a textbook and a teacher's guide specifically designed for teaching Spanish in the refugee campaments of the Sahara. In this context, learning Spanish is not only an educational process but also a essencial tool for the future of the children, as it provides them with greater academic and employment opportunities, both within and beyond their immediate environment. During my time in the camps, I observed firsthand various issues affecting the quality of education, such as the use of outdated materials that were poorly adapted to the cultural and linguistic realities of the students. Additionally, a significant lack of training in effective teaching methodologies and strategies among the teaching staff was noted, which limited the effectiveness of the classes and the students' progress.
Aware of these shortcomings, I set out to develop innovative educational and didactic materials that not only addressed the identified challenges but also provided practical and applicable solutions in this specific environment. The textbook created focuses on relevant and accessible content, while the teacher's guide offers clear pedagogical strategies, methodological guidance, and additional resources to facilitate teaching. Both materials are designed to be easily implemented in the classrooms of the camps, thereby helping to improve the quality of education and equipping teachers with the necessary tools to deliver more effective and adapted instruction. Ultimately, this project aims to have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of Sahrawi students, providing them with the opportunity to access a future with more options and better prospects.
