Education for Sustainable Development and Community Engagement in Bangladesh
Community engagement in education proposes a remarkable societal change to achieve sustainable development. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) focus on the sustainability agenda for social, economic, and environmental balance. In Bangladesh's rural areas, sustainability is quite imbalanced as a large portion of the population lives in rural areas, and government support alone is not enough. So, the community and organizations have taken the initiative to work cooperatively with the government to bring sustainability into the rural areas to empower the marginalized communities. This paper focuses on policies and educational alignment for formal and informal educational contexts. Additionally, it explores more details about community education through hands-on learning, organization campaigns for health awareness. It also explains multiple stakeholders' support to build non-formal education, where vocational training and theory-based education are priorities for individual development, and education acceptance among target communities. I have examined literature from research papers, magazines, and news articles. The discussion is based on critical analysis focusing on community responsibility to educate the marginalized community to bring sustainability into rural areas of Bangladesh.
