<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="is">Þessi ritgerð fjallar um aðdáendahóp sem kallar sig bronies og myndast hefur í kringum teiknimyndaþáttinn My little pony: Friendship is magic.
<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="en">This essay is about the group of fans that calls themselves bronies that has formed around the cartoon show My little pony: Friendship is magic. This fandom has gotten a lot of attention both in media and among scholars in various fields of study. But bronies walk against accepted social norms of society of what is to be a man, what is masculine and what a man should have an interest in. This essay will ask why? Here will be tried to answer the questions if bronies are changing our ideas about masculinity and what is to be a man. The role of the Internet will also be explored as well as its influences. The theories and approaches used here are theories and approaches in anthropology about power, resistance and agency of the individual and his or her ability to have an effect on their surroundings and community. The essay explains that yes, this group is challenging our ideas of what is to be a man but weather they are actually changing them is hard to say considering that the guise and practice of masculinity are too changing and liquidy and doesn't stay the same through time or space. The essay also reveals how much effect the Internet has had on the creation of this group.</dim:field>
