The field of permutation statistics is an established subfield of combinatorics with connections to many other fields, such as genome rearrangements, computer science and physics.
The definitions of these statistics can be something simple, like counting the occurrences of a classical pattern in permutations, or very complex, like describing how mutated a genome is. StatDescriptor is an algorithm that aims to automatically find a concise description of permutation statistics using mesh patterns.
Umraðanatölfræði er undirgrein fléttufræði sem tengist mörgum öðrum greinum, svo sem erfðafræði, tölvunarfræði og eðlisfræði.
Skilgreining slíkrar tölfræði getur verið einföld, eins og að telja tilvik af einföldu mynstri í umröðunum, eða mjög flókin, eins og að lýsa hversu stökkbreytt erfðamengi er.
StatDescriptor er reiknirit sem reynir að finna sjálfvirkt hnitmiðaða lýsingu á umraðanatölfræði með möskvamynstrum.
