<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="is">Á Íslandi í dag hefur áhugi á notendamiðlægri hönnun aukist á síðastliðnum
<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="en">In Iceland today, interest in user-centered design has increased in recent years.
This thesis investigates what is involved in implementing the methodology of
design thinking in organizations and companies, which are defined outside the
traditional design sector. It also examines what makes up a designer's mindset
and what qualities need to be considered when assembling teams. The study is a
qualitative study conducted through interviews with three Icelanders who have
in common the use of design thinking as a leading methodology in their field of
work outside of the design sector. Criticized shortcomings of the methodology,
particularly in terms of measurability of benefits, are addressed and compared
with results. The results of the study showed that in order to implement design
thinking, you need to take time, both to learn the methodology itself, but also
time to adapt it into the workplace culture. A team of design thinkers needs to be
appointed, but there are individuals who have a special ability to apply holistic
thinking, have a lot of empathy, are optimistic, open to experimentation and can
work collaboratively with others (Tim Brown, 2008). Designer thinkers are
therefore not necessarily individuals who are educated designers, but they are
subjective individuals with an open mind. The author puts forward one theory
that reliable measurability is even unnecessary in design thinking, since the
methodology is based on a back-and-forth process that ensures that there is
always room for improvement. These results are important to meet the rapidly
growing interest in the methodology and can provide insight into what the
process of implementation can be like and what needs to be considered during
that implementation.</dim:field>
