<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="is">Kulnun er nýlegt hugtak sem hefur fengið aukna athygli undanfarna áratugi.

<dim:field mdschema="dc" element="description" qualifier="abstract" lang="en">Burnout is a relatively new construct that has received growing attention over the past decades. Despite extensive research, there is ongoing debate about how it should be conceptualized. The aims of this study were to assess whether personality traits, specifically responsibility attitudes and maladaptive perfectionism, are associated with burnout symptoms. Method: A total of 106 healthcare workers from the psychiatric unit at Landspítali - The National University Hospital of Iceland participated. Participants provided background information and answered three questionnaires: BAT, APS-R, and RAS. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation, Welch’s ANOVA, and linear regression analysis. Results: Background variables did not have a significant association with burnout symptoms, only maladaptive perfectionism and responsibility attitudes were associated with burnout. In addition, an interaction was observed between maladaptive perfectionism, responsibility attitudes, and burnout. Discussion: The results suggest that both maladaptive perfectionism and responsibility may be a risk factor for burnout. However, maladaptive perfectionism was a stronger predictor and weakened the effect of responsibility on burnout. Additionally, adaptive perfectionism did not have a protective effect. This study provides insight into burnout symptoms among healthcare workers and the role of perfectionism and responsibility in burnout.
