Instructions on how to search in Skemman

In Skemman it is possible to search in all material or by author, title, subject (keyword), student‘s advisor and the date of acceptance to the repository. To limit the search by type please press the relevant link.

Main search window
A general search in all fields of the database. Search by author, title, word in title, subject (keyword) or name of advisor.

Search by author
Searches in the alphabetical name list of authors. All authors, Icelandic and foreign, are listed by first name followed by last name. Foreign authors, who are not Icelandic residents, may be listed by their last name followed by their first name.

Search by title
Searches in the alphabetical title list. Usually it is sufficient to search by the initial words in the title. Please note that titles in English are always listed by the first word even though they begin with a prefix such as The and A.

Search by subject
Searches in the standardized subject index, arranged in alphabetical order.

Search by advisor
Searches in the alphabetical list of the student‘s advisor. All advisors, Icelandic and foreign, are listed by first name followed by last name. Foreign advisors, who are not Icelandic residents, may be listed by their last name followed by their first name.

Search by date
Searches by date (or date range) of acceptance to the repository.
